Discovering Palma de Mallorca by Motorbike: Our Experience with PalmaRiders
Travel has always been one of our passions. Each new destination is an opportunity to explore, learn and immerse yourself in a different culture. This time, our destination was the beautiful island of Mallorca, in the Balearic Islands. But we didn’t want it to be a run-of-the-mill trip. We wanted freedom, flexibility and a touch of adventure. So we decided to rent a motorcycle to tour the island at our own pace. That’s where PalmaRiders comes in, a motorcycle rental company in Palma de Mallorca that made our experience unforgettable.
Arrival in Palma de Mallorca
We arrived in Palma de Mallorca on a sunny spring morning. Fresh air and the scent of the sea greeted us as we made our way to our lodging. The excitement was palpable, we knew that the next few days would be full of discoveries and adventures.
After settling into a small, cozy hotel near the port, our first mission was to get a motorcycle. We had read about PalmaRiders in several travel forums and decided that they would be our best option. We were not wrong.
PalmaRiders: Much More than a Motorbike Rental
From the moment we contacted PalmaRiders, we were impressed by their friendliness and professionalism. We were offered a wide range of motorcycles, from light scooters to powerful high-displacement motorcycles. After a brief conversation to understand our needs, they recommended a perfect motorcycle to explore the island.
What surprised us the most was the amount of facilities we were offered. We were provided with helmets, a detailed map of the island and several recommendations of routes and must-see places. In addition, they gave us their contact information for any emergency or questions we might have during the rental.
The rental process was quick and easy. Within minutes, we were ready to begin our adventure. They delivered us a bike in perfect condition and gave us some useful tips about riding on the island.
Exploring the Island
With the bike ready and our backpacks full of enthusiasm, we started our adventure. The freedom of moving around on a motorcycle is incomparable. There are no schedules to follow and no fixed routes. It all depends on you and what you want to discover.
Day 1: Palma and Surroundings
Our first day was spent exploring the city of Palma. We marveled at the majesty of the Cathedral of Mallorca and got lost in the narrow streets of the old town. The motorcycle allowed us to move around easily and find less touristy but equally charming places. We had lunch in a small cafeteria overlooking the harbor and enjoyed Palma’s lively nightlife.
Day 2: The Tramontana Mountains
The second day we headed towards the Sierra de Tramontana, a mountain range that runs along the north of the island. The winding roads and scenic views were a delight. We visit picturesque villages such as Valldemossa and Deià, each with its own charm. In Valldemossa, we walked the cobblestone streets and visited the Charterhouse, where the famous composer Frédéric Chopin spent a winter. In Deià, we enjoyed lunch in a restaurant overlooking the sea.
Day 3: Northern Beaches
The third day was dedicated to the sun and the sea. We head north to discover some of the best beaches on the island. Cala Mesquida and Playa de Muro welcomed us with crystal clear waters and white sands. The motorcycle allowed us to access hidden corners away from the crowds. We spent the day swimming, sunbathing and enjoying the tranquility of these beautiful beaches.
Day 4: Drach Caves
On our fourth day, we decided to explore the subsoil of Mallorca by visiting the famous Drach Caves. These impressive caves are home to one of the largest subway lakes in the world. The bike made the trip there fast and comfortable, avoiding traffic and enjoying the scenery. After the visit, we headed to Porto Cristo, a charming port where we enjoyed a dinner with fresh seafood.
Day 5: Secret Routes
On the last day we decided to follow some of the routes recommended by PalmaRiders that are not in the tourist guides. We discovered small villages, local markets and hidden viewpoints that offered us a unique perspective of the island. We visited the market of Sineu, one of the oldest on the island, and bought local products such as cheese, sausages and handicrafts. Then, we headed to the Formentor area, where we enjoyed spectacular views of the sea and cliffs.
The Farewell
Returning the motorcycle to PalmaRiders was as easy as picking it up. We bid farewell to the team thanking them for all the facilities and advice they gave us. The motorcycle had been our best ally to discover Mallorca and the experience with PalmaRiders had exceeded our expectations.
Before leaving, we had the opportunity to chat with other travelers who had also rented motorcycles from PalmaRiders. They all shared our opinion: the freedom of moving around on a motorcycle and the excellent service of PalmaRiders had made their trip a unique experience.
